“Honking horns!”
―Brewster's catchphrase

Brewster is a strong, blue and yellow diesel chugger. He is an advanced trainee and works with the Chuggineers. He is one of the main characters in the series.

Biography

During Wilson, Brewster and Koko's first delivery outside of the Depot, a power cut occurred, causing Koko (an electric engine) to become stranded in the countryside. While Wilson took Koko back to the Depot, Brewster took the entire night shift delivery to Tootington all by himself- thankfully, he made it there safely.[1] Soon after, Brewster became a runaway on the mountain after overloading with stone- subsequently being rescued by Wilson.[2]

Sometime afterwards, Brewster solves a mystery of the missing bananas from the Safari Park with Hodge and Eddie and soon discovers an escaped monkey was what took them.[3] He was also once "fought" off a dragon, to soon he and others found out was a frog,[4] met his hero, Action Chugger for the first time while doing a scavenger hunt[5] and save Chatsworth from a fire from the back on his train.[6]

Hanging around with Zephie more often, the two would attempt to save Old Puffer Pete from scrap (though it was a misunderstanding),[7] find Pete a new firebox[8] and Zephie would even try to prove herself as a helpful chugger by doing some of Brewster's jobs.[9] He and the other trainees would also go through special training with Action Chugger[10] and perform a special show for Old Puffer Pete's one hundred and fiftieth birthday.[11]

Calley would then ask Brewster to mentor and babysit new trainees, Hoot and Toot, but lost them after the twins played a cheeky prank on him; he eventually found them again stuck by the Underground Tunnels.[12] He would also save Action Chugger from a terrible accident[13] and play in a part of Harrison's team of "Chug of War".[14] Dr. Ling later selected Brewster to be the first chugger to try out her latest invention- a speed booster. On his first run with it, it proved to be extremely faulty. Despite this, Brewster failed to tell Dr. Ling about said problems because of the fact that he was told that he would be receiving an award from the mayor of Tootington after his historically fast delivery. It wasn't until Hodge began speeding out of control with the booster that Brewster told Vee about the booster's faults.[15] Fast forward, and Brewster was chosen to take the newly appointed mayor across Border Bridge followed with chuggers behind them as they celebrate.[16]

Furthermore, Brewster and his friends were asked by Mtambo to camouflage themselves for advance safari training[17] and Mayor Pullman herself asked him to make a special film about Chuggington to show off for the other mayors to see.[18]

Brewster would go on to join the Chuggineers, the building crew in Chuggington.[19] Being an incrible asset to the team, Brewster would save Zack from being trapped in the mines after the Rocky Ridge Rickety Bridge collapsed,[20] rescue the Chuggineer after flood broke out by the river,[21] and discover an old line with Koko naming the newly built station after it.[22]

The Chuggineers would spend their time preparing for a High Speed Link to Tootington.[23] After becoming stuck on the large crane while building the bridge connecting to Tootington's new high speed link, Brewster noticed that Zack had forgotten to weld one of the track sections; if Zack couldn't weld it in time, Tyne, who was drilling through the mountain, would plummet into the ravine. Thankfully, Zack was able to weld that track before Tyne broke through. Brewster's find led to the bridge being named after him; "Brewster Bridge".[24] He teamed up with Cormac and both brought the final piece of the Tootington Tunnel's sections, opening the new line.[25]

Later in time, Brewster and Zephie work together on Heros' Day and even save Hoot and Toot.[26] Him and Wilson get trap in a tunnel during a blizzard,[27] Brewster wins the metal for as the strongest chugger for the Chugtastic Games[28] and the Rip Roaring Relay Race with Wilson.[29]

When he learns Hodge's radiator overheated, Brewster wanted to help him out by donating one of his own radiators to Hodge.[30] With the help of each other, the both saved a ship coming into the Docks from running aground.[31]

Personality

Brewster is young, cautious, inexperienced, generous, and eager to do work whenever he can. He takes criticism very well and always uses it as a way to improve. He is always willing to help, and while he is teased for being slow, he doesn't mind it and focuses on his unique strengths.

Sometimes, Brewster can be a bit competitive, especially with Wilson, when there is some type of challenge they bet on each other such as who can spot the most humans[32] or who has the hardest job.[33] And come that competitive energy, he has shown to also be jealous towards other strong trainees, specifically Tai, but in the end, he knows that the most important thing is working together.[34]

As safe minded as he is, Brewster doesn't handle the idea of change very well, more evidently when he finds out Dunbar was temperately leaving Chugginton for a while. With that, he learns how sometimes, it's okay to let go and take in the new normal.[35]
