- “I wish I was big and can help more. I could share Brewster's jobs and help him out! I'll show him what a useful little chugger I am, then he won't laugh next time I offer to help.”
- ―Zephie
Brewster's Little Helper is the forty-seventh episode of the first season.
Plot
Zephie is very keen to do some work. So when Vee gives Brewster his jobs for the day, Zephie wants to help him. But Brewster teases her as she is too small to handle heavy freight trains. This makes Zephie cross, and she decides to be Brewster's Little Helper to prove that she can pull freight. So, she collects a van and heads for the Farm while Brewster gets a Chug Wash.
Zephie carelessly loads the eggs into the van at the Farm and takes them to the Safari Park instead of the Ice Cream Factory. Then, she takes animal feed from the Safari Park to the Ice Cream Factory instead of the Farm. Lastly, she heads for the Mountain Quarry to collect a big delivery of tiles.
Soon after his wash, Brewster starts his work, unaware that Zephie is doing his work. As a result of Zephie's chaos with the deliveries, Brewster causes a greater clutter by taking the eggs back to the Farm. Felix tells Brewster to take them to the Ice Cream Factory, which he does. Then, Brewster collects the animal feed and takes it to the Farm. Brewster arrives very late at the Mountain Quarry, only to realize that only a few boxes of tiles are left. Karen tells Brewster about Zephie helping him, which makes Brewster realize that Zephie made the chaos with his deliveries. Once the remaining tiles are in his van, Brewster sets off.
Meanwhile, the van load of tiles is much too heavy for Zephie to handle, and she and the van come off the rails. Brewster arrives and apologizes for teasing her, but he reminds Zephie that all engines are designed for different jobs. Once Zephie is back on the rails, she and Brewster go back to Chuggington, where Morgan and Lori have being waiting all day for Zephie as they've got plenty of jobs for her. Now, Zephie knows that she doesn't have to do the jobs of the bigger engines to prove herself useful.

Trivia
- Going by production order, this is the forty-fourth episode of the first season.
- This episode's title is a reference to the phrase, "Santa's little helper," often used to refer to Christmas elves.
- Stock footage from Wilson Gets a Wash and Braking Brewster is used, as is mirrored stock footage from Koko and the Tunnel.
- This is one of the few times Olwin is seen pulling passenger carriages.
- This episode marks Felix's final appearance until the fourth season episode, Record Breaker Koko, and his final speaking role to date.
Goofs
- When Irving passes by Zephie, his original horn can be heard.
- Because the stock footage from Koko and the Tunnel is mirrored, things such as Calley's lamps and pipe, her entire shed, and the tunnels are all facing the opposite side.
- Additionally, due to the usage of stock footage, Calley's coupling rods do not move as she backs down to the magnet car.
- Zephie's boxcar changes colour three times during her trip to the Quarry.
